10 Clear Signs Spring Has Arrived and What They Mean

Happy Spring! The weekend felt truly like spring — not just on the calendar. Warm, clear weather invited us outside, and signs of the season were everywhere.

We spent most of the weekend cleaning up fallen branches, dead trees, and piles of pine needles. The best part: we built a huge burn pile and cleared a lot of debris.

Although we have a maintained lawn, much of our property is forested. I tackled a small section and was surprised by how many branches had fallen over the winter. It felt good to restore some order to the woods.

Just as I thought the work was finished, Rod arrived with a ladder and chainsaw to remove dead limbs up high — more pruning and more cleanup. It’s always a team effort.

Our new puppy, Drake, was exhausted after all the activity. He looks completely ready for a nap — poor little guy earned it after supervising the whole operation.

There’s still more pruning to do around the property, including fruit areas like apple trees and raspberry patches. Proper pruning helps promote healthy growth and better harvests later in the season.

Spring also brings new animals to the farm. Right now we’re enjoying six little piglets, born in two separate litters about a month apart. They’re irresistibly cute, and Drake can’t get enough of them. The piglets and Drake seem to get along well.

Wishing everyone a joyful and productive spring — there’s nothing like fresh air, hard work, and new life around the yard to remind you the season has arrived. Happy Spring!
