3 Refreshing Summer Milkshake Recipes for Hot Days

One of my favorite things about summer is enjoying milkshakes whenever the mood strikes. I love experimenting with new flavors, and while the classic creamy mango milkshake holds a special nostalgic place for me, I also have two other summer shakes that are now part of my seasonal routine. These three milkshakes are creamy, indulgent, and perfectly refreshing on a hot day. If you try them, feel free to tag me on Instagram and use #bakewithshivesh. You can also customize each recipe with your favorite toppings and mix-ins to make them your own.

Making vegan summer milkshakes

If you prefer vegan milkshakes, simply swap the dairy ingredients for plant-based alternatives. Use almond, soy, or oat milk in place of cow’s milk, choose a vegan vanilla or flavored ice cream, and finish with dairy-free whipped cream. There are many good dairy-free brands available now, so you can easily recreate any of these shakes without animal products.

Can I make milkshakes without a blender?

These milkshakes rely on blending ice cream and other ingredients to achieve a smooth and creamy texture, so a blender or food processor is recommended. A hand mixer or immersion blender typically won’t create the same silky consistency, so for best results use a countertop blender or a food processor.

Ingredients for 3 summer milkshakes

  1. Butterscotch shake – This underrated flavor deserves more attention. A well-made butterscotch milkshake is light, flavorful, and comforting. For the best result use good-quality butterscotch chips and butterscotch ice cream, plus milk to loosen the texture. A drizzle of caramel sauce adds extra depth, but the shake is delicious even without it.

3. Mango shake – The seasonal mango milkshake is a must-try. When mangoes are ripe and fragrant, they make a smooth, naturally sweet shake that feels like summer in a glass. Use ripe, fragrant mangoes for the best flavor; this simple shake highlights the fruit beautifully.
